Matri Seva Trust
A charitable trust built around one discipline: finish what you fund.
We keep our focus narrow on purpose — clean water and homeopathic care, across Gurugram and nearby villages — because capital without committed monitoring is the most common failure mode in charitable work. Every initiative we run pairs the spend with a named person, a way to check on it, and a public report.
Our guiding principles
Agreed by the Trust as the standard every initiative is measured against.
Help the real needy
We focus on people in genuine financial distress, deprived of basic survival needs — identified clinically, at the bottom of the pyramid. We evaluate every initiative critically, and roll back decisions if the benefit isn't reaching the people it's meant for.
Public participation
We seek collaboration and commitment from the people we're trying to help. The time, effort, and money we spend should be acknowledged through joint ownership, contribution, or commitment from the beneficiaries themselves — not a one-way handout.
Sustainability
We define co-ownership with a local representative for every initiative, with clear responsibilities on both sides, and a formal monitoring mechanism to check effectiveness, utility, and quality over time.
Asset-light, zero-cost finance
We'd rather grow through collaboration than heavy capital investment. Over time, we look to bring in OEMs and companies through their own CSR programmes — widening participation rather than deepening our own balance sheet.
A small, active board
We cap our trustees at six, and only add people who can actively participate and contribute to the initiatives themselves — not sit on the letterhead.
What we’re focused on right now
Trustees on the ground
Beyond our two core programs, trustees take part directly in community service — including meal distribution for patients’ families and attendants outside the hospital — in keeping with our principle that we participate, not just fund.
How we’re different
Most charitable work is measured at the moment of delivery. We measure ourselves later — by whether it’s still running, still checked on, and still trusted by the people it’s for.
Named ownership, not a handover
Every initiative has a named person responsible for it — not an afterthought once the launch is done.
Evidence over assurance
Independent testing and tracked attendance replace “trust us” with a paper trail, whether that’s a water-quality certificate or a clinic’s own logbook.
Built with local anchors
From GLA University’s presence in Vrindavan-area schools to Vivekanand Arogya Kendra in Gurugram, we build on existing local trust rather than starting cold.
Trustees
Matri Seva Trust is governed by a deliberately small board — capped at six, so every trustee is someone actively contributing to the work.
